Here is a rare CD Player the Fisher AD-822. The laser mechanism had jumped out of its housing and jammed the tray mechanism and non of the lights worked.
A partial strip down found the laser guide had become dislodged during transit, so the mechanism was dismantled and rebuilt, tested and it sprang into life.
So after giving it a good clean and re-greasing various parts, it all now fully works again.
The cool thing about early CD players was many had a small window where you could see the CD spinning, many being lit up as well, this one had a red light, although playing a red CD means it does not show up too well.
Its long term life will need more care and attention as many of the electronic components are showing signs of leakage and will need replacing.
